Another day with Dad

I had to show you this.

Basically my dad is a total vintage, country loving type of old dude. Yes I know its in my genes, how could it not be?

He loves steam cars, old trains, farms but most of all he loves home.

This morning he picked up these two beauty's might I add both of them for £5 total bargain! The larger one in the background mums going to put 2 wicker baskets on, one front and one back in which to plant some flowers (aww how pretty) laughs.

The other one is just for fun. In fact I kind of fancy it, it even folds in half!! :)

Finally.... when I run in the dark in PARIS

YAY I'm going to Paris.

Bat for Lashes. 4th November. Paris. Could it be any better?

Granted it is 4 days before I play the role of bridesmaid for 1 of my best friends but I will be home in good time and I will be the best bridesmaid one has ever saw. Promice!! If I refrain from balling like a child who's balloons just drifted to up and beyond.
Anyway back to Paris... so my good friend Sho is taking me to a place which I hope lives up to be the heaven I dream it is.
She speaks total fluent French and knows her way around like she does her home town. I couldn't be in better hands.
I want to see the Ritz and sip coffee on the Champs-Elysées and people watch and visit the Eiffel Tower and see the original house of Chanel 31 Rue Cambon and le petit grand Palais - House of Dior. What to wear????????????
I can honestly say this is the most exciting thing ever to me!
My Friend has started teaching me some necessary French fashion phrases I must learn...
And to hear Natasha Khan belt out songs like Daniel, The Siren song, Whats a girl to do, Precilla in that accent that tone in those outfits will be something I'll never forget,
So in my ever excited mood I will leave you with the lyrical greatness of The Siren song.
"Help you dress yourself up fancy,
Bath you when you get sore,
I'll be good I think I could,
Be all you want and more."
"Be proud when you dazzle the wondrous,
Glitter your eyes for the town,
Tell every last boy that your my man,
Try not to let you down"

More than meets the eye...

Granted many of you may think this is tres strange but I not only love all things fashion, music and poetry I also have a major thing for pretty vintage-french-esq home wear. This is too die for and exactly if I could I'd have my living room.

High 5 to you my interior genius stranger!!!!

"When I find a real life place which makes me feel like Tiffanys.."

Does anyone remember the famous line by Audrey Hepburn or Holly Golightly rather in the classic, Breakfast at Tiffany's "nothing bad could ever happen to you in Tiffany's" when speaking of her love for the store in NYC which she loved so much. That may have been the case in the 60's but it seems the dens of major high end, million pound worth jewellers are not the safest hide away in these crime filled, money fueled, greedy minded days of economic crisis.
None other than GRAFFs Bond street store experienced an armed robbery last Thursday where 2 assholes (granted clever ones) made off with a yellow oval diamond ring containing a total of 179 diamonds, an oval shaped white diamond single line necklace encrusted with 78 diamonds and a multicoloured diamond flower necklace containing 272 diamonds in pink and yellow to the tune of £40 million.

Wonder where the precious jewels might be now?

Take charge!

Date night with the girls always leaves me with food for thought.
Tonight has left me wondering if the shoe should always be kept on the other foot??
OK so the meat of tonights dish is; one of my best friends has been in a relationship with a guy now for a while hes a nice guy with good equity and educational background don't get me wrong he has the greatest credentials and I was excited when she and him met and hit it off but now hes gone and pissed me off! I have been hurt myself not all that terribly long ago and in a sense the sores haven't all healed, yes Im fine infact looking back you could say Im glad its happened but its left me with a feeling of serious protectiveness and loyalty to my best friends and their hearts. After all they were there for me.
Some of us sadly see men as being the ones who always call the shots, but why do we let it be at this?
This friend of mine isn't getting treated fairly or even close to how well she should be and is trying her best to make this one work out, as like me if this one doesn't then shes giving up and her barriers will be back stronger than ever. As a best friend who knows what its like I don't want to see it happen to her.
So what if we refuse to let it be this way if we ladies remember that we are precious and if we aren't getting exactly what we want how we want it then its just not good enough, maybe we should start being as selfish as the guys?
I say we focus on ourselves, know exactly what were worth, put our friends as number one and if any man thinks he can join in well he'd better be ready to prove he is worthy....

Bird by Juicy Couture

Gela Nash-Taylor and Pamela Skaist-Levy the best friends/business partners behind Juicy couture have invented a completely new dimension to the label "Bird."

"It’s streetwear; it’s what we do best. But this is just for a different, sophisticated girl – a bit more chic, a bit more urban,” Nash-Taylor explains. "This is casual luxury with an edge.”

This jacket is a personal favourite. It seems to be a much edgier and not so cliche L.A as original Juicy. This line is out this month and will be priced from £80 up.

Sequins.. Aproach with caution!

The good
The bad
and the down right freaking disgraceful!!!

Thomas F Walsh

This book is by far the best anti-dote for someone searching for a fix of nostalgia, emotion, lost thoughts and reflection that Ive ever experienced.
The author, Thomas F Walsh is the kind of old dude you'd love to sit with for hours on end and absorb in every piece of wisdom he has to offer.
He was born in Headford, Co. Galway and was formerly a primary school headmaster in Dublin and is now a writer and broadcaster and a pretty inspiring one at that.
This book describes in the most romanticised, picturesque, honest and wise ways possible things he has seen in his life. Memoirs of times gone by he has duly noted as pin-points in making him who he is.
These events he has experienced range from simple conversations had between two under-privileged primary school girls to the death of his daughter.
I found many of the things he had to say I could relate to and found myself reading and re-reading many parts of the book to truly appreciate how beautiful, deep and wise his mind is. Throughout the book I got a real sense of family belonging and reminding that home is where the heart is.
I would advise anyone who wants reminding of what really matters in life and a serious reality check to go out and get your hands on this book as soon as: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Silent-Moments-Thomas-Walsh/dp/1856079538/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1249985428&sr=8-1
